I am currently a Reader in Pharmacology at the University of Huddersfield. My current research is focused on Cancer Pharmacology. I am interested in identifying novel treatments for cancer patients and investigating the mechanism of action of old and new drugs originated from both the synthetic and natural sources such as cannabinoids. I was awarded my PhD in Neuropharmacology in July 1999 from the University of Bradford following the completion of a MSc in Pharmacology with distinction in 1996. I then started a career in Pharmacology taking up various posts which led to taking up a Senior Lectureship position in Pharmacology at the University of Huddersfield in 2008. I was the first pharmacologist to be employed by the University and was given the responsibility to develop Pharmacology modules for different years of a new Pharmacy course. I have collaboration with clinicians at the NHS hospitals and scientists at national and international levels. I am a member of two Committees at BPS and the UK representative at European Association of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapy (EACPT). I have experience in working with pharmaceutical companies such as GSK, GW Pharmaceuticals and Nutrace
